The San Francisco Farmers Market at the Ferry Building

So, I'm in San Francisco and I wandered down to the Ferry Building and they were having a farmers market. It was amazing. The first pict is my FAVORITE booth, I mean, how could it not be! The fruit and veggies that they are selling (we'll get to the other food later!) is amazing. Everywhere booth you enter has someone offering you samples - which are some of the best fruits I have ever tasted. So, here are some quick pictures of what I saw:

First, the flowers....they were absolutely amazing. I want to live in San Francisco so that I could walk down here every Saturday morning to get flowers...

Then there are the peaches and nectarines. This picture doesn't do them justice -- they are huge - think peaches on steroids...i mean, the size of ruby red grapefruit. And they were so sweet!!!

Then there were the veggies...these are just the peppers. They were the biggest peppers I have ever seen (once again, steroids!) and there were so many of them!!!

Now, if you ever come down to San Francisco, here is what you need to do - wake up and take a walk down to the ferry - grab coffee at Peet's inside the ferry building, or there was a coffee booth on the right side of the building (sadly, that I didn't see till after Peet's - the line at that booth was about 30 deep! But Peets was still really good!). Then stop off at one of the Farmers Markets booths and grab a bag for a dollar to put all your items into. Then start looking for some great items for a picnic - the larger than life fruit, get in line at Acme bread to buy some bread (I had the cranberry walnut, cheese sour dough, and regular sough dough (yes, I had to try all of them!) and they were really good!), and then visit the other booths to see what else you can find - I had some GREAT olive oil and 10 year aged baslamic vinegar to eat with my bread...and there are some amazing cheese stores / booths too!! There is also booths in the back of the ferry building where you can get food - I found a sausage vendor and got some of the best sausage in my life...and on the back row - someone selling the best lemonade in jars.

After you have found it all, go back across the street to the park - sit with everyone watching the kids roll down the hills (giggling the entire way down) and have a little picnic. I promise you won't be disappointed!

the life of lippe...

Everyone who knows me knows that somehow I always manage to get into trouble...some of it good trouble, some of it bad trouble...but it always seems to find me. Most of you have probably been dragged into it at one time or the other, and if not, you have heard about it. So, since i don't always get to catch up with everyone and in my old age, at times, forget to tell everyone what is going on, I decided to start blogging about it. Everyone says that when I write my stories, that you can hear me telling the story in my own "lippe language"...so I hope you enjoy. I am probably going to blog some stuff that happened earlier this summer so that I can put some pictures up so when I talk about some of my trips or some of my friends, you can know what I am talking about! I hope you all enjoy!
