I love my new doctor....

I went and saw a new doctor today....who rates very high on my list of favorite doctors. I probably should have seen a pulmonologist last year when I had my blood clots - but no, they didn't send me to see one. This year, when my cardiologist heard about those little friends I got last year, well, he sent me immediately just to see what was going on.

I love this man....mainly just because he was so open and honest, and explained so much. He went through my ENTIRE file (and it is really big) and reviewed my current CT and wanted to talk about everything that I had been through in the last year and a half. He asked so many questions to really try to understand me, and then spent a TON of time just trying to explain to me the differences between blood clots that would form because of hereditary and ones that are "situational" -- which mine were. He explained how they occur, what the treatment is and what the long term repercussions are. It was WAY more than anyone had ever told me before -- even when I was in the hospital and asking lots of questions.

Then we started talking about my lungs....he talked me through the nodules, and how a majority of time when you see them they are more with people who smoked or have injured their lungs. He also told me that although the CT scan will identify issues, it isn't the best test. Then he explained the ENTIRE CT to me that I did a few weeks ago. He went slide by slide and talked me through each slide. He showed me what the nodule looked like and how it looks like a blood vessel, but there normally aren't blood vessels that far out in the lungs. He said that he didn't suspect it was anything wrong because I don't have a family history and I don't smoke, so my risk factors are low. He said he wanted to basically monitor it for 2 years....and the best thing is - he knows I had a CT scan a year ago, and a year and a half ago, and he said he could count those into the 2 year if he could identify it and it hasn't changed!!! Woo-Hoo!!!!

Then he showed me the slides where the "constriction" was....and this is the best part-- he said that had I taken a deep breath before I did the scan, then it wouldn't have shown up. That it looked that way because my lungs weren't filled with air. AWESOME. So he said that there isn't anything to worry about.

I love that man....that is all I can say. He gave me the first piece of good news in a long time and that was exactly what I needed. The other thing is that they took my blood pressure and pulse while I was there and my pulse was around 75 and my BP was like 110 / 75 - which is way more normal. I WAS SO STOKED to find that out. That just about made my day. This could totally mean that the high heart rate could have been my thyroid since it seems (since I no longer feel in a fog and emotional) like it is getting back to normal.

So, all in all it was a good friday...except that I bought a new couch this weekend and they were supposed to come get the old one today so the new one could get delivered wednesday and they called and said they couldn't. so sad. now I have to wait till tomorrow! I can't wait to get it here!! I've been wanting a new one for a long time! I'll post picts when it arrives!
